No problem, making such a transition between completely opposite patterns is difficult and most tend to make the patterns overbearing. I love the beautiful shading and the clean lines, I would love to see the colored one.

thank you! i just posted the color version, and i'm giving it the genus/species name of panthera chromumbris, but some sort of gryff-something would be a cool common name for it! hmm... i'll be thinking on it...

Really beautiful creature design.
Even though the pattern changes, its not overbearing and you did a wonderful job making it look like a natural pattern transition.
It would be really cool to see this colored. (:

Hmmmm the possibilities are endless haha.
I see him as an orange-brown with tons of different
shades of orange...and maybe red, and his belly and legs
white...for a more realistic animal. But man. It would look
awesome in more unique colors too.

See, I'm seeing black, brown, and green--the bird bit could have contributed to the color, otherwise I'd leave green out. But it would blend better as a predator that way.
